11/11/07 Episode
This week on
Brothers and Sisters, Uncle Saul (Ron Rifkin) came out to his sister, Nora Walker (Sally Field) by telling her he has had a relationship with a man. Since we have already seen him fall for a woman last season (his late brother-in-law's former mistress, Holly, played by Patricia Wettig of
thirtysomething), we know he is bi.
Nora: What do you mean you cant be this person anymore? What person, what are you talking about?
Sol: Look, I shouldnt have said what I did last night. I'm sorry. I came here to apologize.
Nora: Well that's lovely, but I still dont know what's going on.
Sol: You dont have to know everything Nora. We all have secrets.
Nora: Oh Sol, if you have some health issue that you're hiding from me-
Sol: There's nothing wrong with me physically, I promise, I'm fine. It's just hard. You know your kids are the closest thing I have to a family. It's not that I dont love coming here for their birthdays and their holidays...It's just not my family. I wish I had found someone that I could-
Nora: You know that I have always wanted you desperately to find somebody to love.
Sol: How do you know that I havent?
Nora: Stop talking in circles!
Sol: Nora, I'm not who you think I am.
Nora: My husband was in love with another woman for most of our marriage.
Sol: Well I was in love with a man... How bout that.
Nora: You...what?
Sol: It was so many years ago...
Nora: Why didnt you tell me?
Sol: Because...because it was a different time...
Nora: Different time? I was there, I'm your
sister.
Sol: I shouldnt have told you.
Nora: Yes, you should have told me, you
should have
told me--a long time ago. Sol, I'm so confused. I mean, the women you were with-
[They are interupted by Kevin and Sol cant leave fast enough.]
This plotline has been building for weeks, ever since Sol's old friend, Milo, appeared out of the blue to announce he is divorced and has come out as gay. As their friendship has been reconnecting, anyone with bidar has known something was up. We assume this is the man he had the relationship with...something about a "camping trip" (double entedre probably intended) they took in the past. Last week Milo invited Saul to a party at his house but when Saul arrived he was surprised to discover that all the guests were men. Later Kevin's ex, Scotty, (who was cater waitering the party) drops it to him that he didn't know his uncle was gay. That was also news to Kevin who confronts Saul, upset that all this time they could have been gay bonding and he could have had more support from his uncle when he came out. Saul denies all except having a gay friend.
Dont miss next week's show when more is sure to be revealed.

Last week on
Nip/Tuck, Julia (Joely Richardson) mades a surprise visit to her exes, (plastic surgery partners, Sean and Christian) with her new lover, Ollie. Ollie turned out to be short for Olivia (Portia De Rossi in her first on-screen sapphic role.)

This week we had the chance to see Julia in her new relationship and in bed with Portia! Since this is Nip/Tuck, the plot had to get crazy and convoluted with extra subplots. To see the next installment, tune in on Tues 10 PM ET on FX. FX does replays so you can also catch this week's episode Fri 11PM & Sunday at 10.
